The Crombie Report
Twenty-four years ago, former Toronto Mayor David Crombie strongly recommended that property tax assessment be based on value in current use. This newly-relevant recommendation was featured in a report by the property tax sub-panel of the “Who Does What” advisory panel, chaired by Mr. Crombie. Released in five instalments, the report was eventually printed along with reports from other sub-panels (the reason page numbers start at 102). See pages 106, 109 and 125 for the recommendation re value in current use.
